Mindfulness Courses
Mindfulness is about living in the present moment, about being more awake and alive to our lives rather than operating from a sort of 'automatic pilot' in which we can be cut off from aspects of our experience. Mindfulness training can change deeply established automatic thought patterns and habits, reducing feelings of stress, fear, anxiety and depression. The aim of mindfulness training is to enable the individual to learn to respond to the stress, challenges and difficulties of life with choice through increasing moment-to-moment awareness. Anyone can learn and practice mindfulness. It is simple, you can practice it anywhere and the results can be life changing.
Dr Avinash Bansode qualified as a GP in India and has a Postgraduate Certificate in Mindfulness Based Approaches from Bangor University in Wales, UK. He has been practicing mindfulness meditation since the 1990s and has always been interested in mind-body integrative medicine and a more holistic approach towards health and wellbeing. An ordained Buddhist, Avinash has been practicing, living and working in Buddhist Meditation Retreat Centres in the UK and India since 2001. In his teachings and training, he brings the Eastern meditative and contemplative approaches to integrate with Western psychology and scientific medical traditions. Through Mindfullybeing, Avinash has worked with Scottish Mental Health executives, NHS Scotland staff and patients, Edinburgh University staff and students as well as members of the public and the corporate world.
The Mindfulness Foundation Course helps you to systematically develop the skill of being present with your experience. The eight week course aims to assist you in dealing with your own stresses and challenges, helps you to take better care of yourself and to get the most out of your life. The majority of people completing this programme report lasting physical and psychological benefits including:
-
an increased ability to relax
-
greater energy and enthusiasm for life
-
heightened self-confidence
-
an increased ability to cope more effectively with both short and long-term stressful situations.
Scientific research strongly suggests that practising mindfulness can give people more insight into their emotions, boost their attention and concentration and improve relationships. It is also proven to help with stress, anxiety, depression and addictive behaviours, and can even have a positive effect on physical problems like hypertension, heart disease and chronic pain.
Mindfullybeing’s programmes are now increasingly researched, recognised and used by leading medical institutions in the healthcare settings worldwide. In the UK, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy is included in the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines.
