A tremendous aid during this milestone in your life. We use careful posture work to strengthen the pelvic muscles and the spine, and breath control to calm your mind and prepare you emotionally for the new arrival. Maintain your physical, mental and emotional well being as your body adapts to your pregnancy.

Why is it good to choose an Iyengar yoga class for pregnancy?

Our training is taken very seriously. Only teachers who have completed their level 3 intermediate training are allowed to teach a pregnancy class.  That means 5 years of exams. Before starting our Teacher training we also have to have had a mininum of three years yoga practice and in between exams we need to let a certain number of years pass to develop the appropriate teaching experience as well as the eye necessary to look after students properly.
Annamaria's personal experience.

I have a Level 3 Iyengar Yoga Certificate. I have also completed a three-year remedial yoga course and studied in India with the Iyengar family as well as advanced Iyengar Teachers in Mumbai. I am a mother of two children and was lucky enough to become pregnant 12 years ago while doing my first year of teacher training. I experienced the work and its adaptations in the first person. I have now been practising yoga for 20 years . I was blessed with two beautiful homebirths. Saying that I believe strongly in everyone having the right to choose what is appropriate for them, in choices been personal and each one of us having the right to have as much information and as many resources and tools to make their own decision respecting their own deep needs. In doing that, I see my role as a teacher in the class consisting in supporting women in their physical, psychological as well as emotional well-being whatever their choice and whatever their need. In class this is achieved by teaching asanas that work on strengthening the body through the changes involved in this period, as well as teaching deep relaxation techniques useful for before, during and after to help the mind. I teach techniques that are very useful to restore energy levels quite quickly, that I use in my everyday life to help me sustain my role as mother, teacher, director, housewife and more.
In the class we also share experiences and bits of very practical information as required. It is a wonderful class to have the privilege to teach. Over the last five years of Yoga Stable, I have seen many women make new friends, and the little children become friends after and go out together with their mums. It feels very touching to have been a small part of that beautiful process.
